ADMISSIONS CRITERIA FOR SESSION MBBS/BDS 2023-24

Admissions Criteria for session 2023-24

The following Admission Policy is framed in compliance with the provisions of Section 17(3) of Pakistan Medical & Dental Council Act 2022 dated 16-1-2023 and PM&DC Medical and Dental Undergraduate Education (Admission Curriculum and Conduct) Policy & Regulations 2023 dated 13th July 2023, for admission of students to Women Medical & Dental College, Abbottabad for MBBS/BDS courses.

Eligibility Criteria

Any candidate seeking admission in Women Medical & Dental College, Abbottabad shall only be eligible fulfilling the following compulsory criteria

Pakistani Students

i- Obtained a higher Secondary School Certificate qualification (HSSC) or an Equivalent 12th Grade qualification recognized in Pakistan and having obtained a minimum of sixty percent marks therein.

ii- Has passed the mandatory subjects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics in the HSSC or an equivalent examination recognized in Pakistan.

iii- Passed MDCAT examination as per PM&DC regulation – 2023

MDCAT Passing percentage for session 2023-24

MBBS: 55%

BDS: 50%

The result of MDCAT-2022 are no longer valid for seeking admission in session 2023.

Foreign/Overseas Quota Seats

i- Private Medical & Dental institutions may admit students on Foreign/Overseas quota seats upto fifteen percent of their total annual seats.

ii- No candidate shall be eligible for Foreign/Overseas quota unless holds a permanent foreign nationality or overseas Pakistani who has studied and passes HSSC 12th grade examination or equivalent from outside Pakistan and is resident of foreign country at the time of applying for admission.

iii- Mandatory requirement of MDCAT shall not apply to students seeking admission to foreign, overseas Pakistani. Foreign students, overseas/ dual nationality holder shall qualify SAT-II with minimum 550 score in each subject OR a foreign MCAT OR UCAT exam with 50% marks in mandatory subjects (Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics in the HSSC or an equivalent examination recognized in Pakistan).

iv- Where any seat of Foreign/Overseas quota remains vacant due to unavailability of eligible candidate it shall stand transferred to open merit quota.

A. Weightage for Merit.

PM&DC-MDCAT

50% weightage

Intermediate Pre-Medical (HSSC) or equivalent

40% weightage

Secondary School certificate (SSC) or equivalent

10% weightage

B- Merit List

i. In case final merit of more than one candidate is equal up to four decimals, the candidate older in age shall stand higher in merit;

ii. Merit lists will be notified / displayed after the closure of submission of application for admission.

iii. After the display of final merit list if there is any vacant seat, the next candidate on merit in the waiting list will be offered admission accordingly.

iv. Candidates can make written representation at college admission online portal through e-mail (info@wmc.edu.pk) against any error, omissions, mistakes in the merit list.

Admission Process.

1. The Applicants will apply through online portal of WM&DC within specified date and time.

2. interim merit list will be displayed on website as and when necessary, during the process of admission.

3. Final admission list will be made public by or before 31st Jan 2024 for MBBS and by or before 28th Feb 2024 for BDS and sent to authority for review.

4. The applicants are directed to visit college website regularly for updated information / notifications.

5. All correspondences to the applicant will be carried out through email provided by the applicant.

6. All selected candidates will be required to submit their original documents at the time of admission and it should be treated as mandatory.

7. All selected candidates and their parents / guardian will be required to provide an affidavit on stamp paper of Rs. 100 duly attested by the notary public on format provided by the college.

8. Admission offer will remain provisional subject to verification of documents, medical fitness and fee submitted within the prescribed period.

9. The applicants must upload the following documents at a time of applying for admission.

a. Matriculation (SSC)/ IBCC certificates.

b. HSSC / IBCC equivalent certificate

c. Domicile certificate.

d. CNIC/ Form B of applicant and Father

e. Passport copy (for Foreign / Overseas Applicants only)

f. Permanent residence permit (for Foreign / Overseas applicants)

g. Passport size photograph

h. MDCAT / SAT II / MCAT / UCAT result.

i. Equivalence certificate from IBCC (incase of foreign qualification)

D. Deposit of College Fee.

It is mandatory for selected candidates to pay college dues within three working days. Otherwise failure to do so her admission offer shall stand cancelled and next candidate on merit will be offered admission.

E. General Provision.

  1. Directives of PM&DC Rules and regulation regarding undergraduate admission 2023-24 will be followed.
  2. Fee of only current academic session will be demanded.
  3. Fee will be deposited in the designated bank account.
  4. There is NO DONATION POLICY only merit criteria are followed.
  5. As Per Pakistan Medical & Dental Council guidelines.
 

Principal

Women Medial & Dental College

Abbottabad. 

The following admission policy is framed in compliance with the provision of Section 18(3) of PMC Act 2020 and PMC Medical and Dental Undergraduate Education (Admission Curriculum and Conduct) Regulations 2022-23 dated 12th Oct 2022, for admission of students to Women Medical & Dental College, Abbottabad for MBBS/BDS courses.

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

  • Any candidate seeking admission in Women Medical & Dental College, Abbottabad shall only be eligible fulfilling the following compulsory criteria
  • Has obtained 60% marks in HSSC (Pre- Medical) or Equivalent therein or higher percentage as may be notified by the PMC.
  • Has passed the subjects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics in the HSSC or an equivalent examination recognized in Pakistan.
  • Passed the MDCAT as per PMC regulation – 2022

Weightage of Merit

 

  1. Secondary School certificate (SSC) or equivalent 10% weightage
  2. Intermediate Pre-Medical (HSSC) or equivalent 40% weightage
  3. PMC-MDCAT 50% weightage

Merit List

 

  1. In case final merit of more than one candidate is equal up to four decimals, the candidate older in age shall stand higher in merit;

  5. No application shall be entertained that is received after 24th December 2022 for MBBS and 10th January 2023 for BDS.

    4. CNIC/ Form B of applicant and Father

    7. MDCAT registration /Result.

Foreign/ Overseas/ Dual National Quota Seats

Reference PMC Letter No.PF-1-Edu/PMC-2022(Quota-Seats)/1422 dated 23.12.2022 regarding Foreign/ Overseas/ Dual National Quota Seats. The candidates applying against the foreign/ overseas/ dual national quota seats in MBBS & BDS separately shall have to fulfill the following mandatory admission criteria in addition to the MDCAT.

“No candidate shall be eligible for foreign quota seats in public and private medical and dental institutions under sub-regulations (1) and (2) unless she holds a permanent foreign nationality or dual nationality or overseas Pakistani candidates who have studied and passed HSSC 12th grade examination or equivalent from outside Pakistan and has stayed in the foreign country for the whole duration of the above-mentioned course on a Permanent Residence Permit”.

MDCAT is must for all candidates and no alternative for that will be considered. If any candidate applied previously in MBBS/ BDS portal will have to resubmit their application on Foreign/ Overseas/ Dual quota seats admission form online without fee Challan.

Last date for submission of application form for both MBBS & BDS for above mentioned quota seats only is 10th January 2023.

General Provision

Directives of PMC Rules and regulation regarding undergraduate admission 2022-23 will be followed.
Fee of only current academic session will be demanded.
Fee will be deposited in the designated bank account.
There is NO DONATION POLICY only merit criteria are followed.
Admissions to medical and dental programs shall be conducted separately and each student is required to apply separately to a medical or dental program.
A student having not applied to a given program shall not be entitled to admission to such program.
A student can apply to both public sector and private sector colleges.
For admission to a private college no distinction shall be made in terms of merit and criteria between a Pakistani, overseas Pakistani or foreign student.
There will be no transfer in 1st Year MBBS/BDS. As per PMC rules and Regulations.
A registered student who either elects to leave the medical or dental program or is expelled from the college on account of failing to pass the professional exams or for any other reason shall have their Student Fee paid treated as forfeited and no refund shall be claimed.
A college may require a student to obtain health insurance subject to the student having the option to acquire such insurance from its own sources or the insurance provider recommended by the college. As per PMC rules and Regulations.
A student who defaults in payment of tuition fee shall be liable to be expelled by the college subject to a reasonable period being granted to the student to remedy the defaulted fee. A college who expels a student on account of default in payment of tuition fee shall notify the Authority within one week and the student’s registration with the Authority shall be cancelled permanently.
If a student after having obtained admission seeks to leave the program, the college shall have the right to adjust the tuition fee already paid pro rata to the period spent by the student in the program along with a penalty not exceeding ten percent of the total annual fee.
A detained student shall be charged tuition fee in proportion to the number of failed subjects of that professional examination.
