The primary instructional objective of this department is to provide students with an understanding of the pharmacological basis of therapeutics so that the students have the requisite knowledge of drugs and in the future and they are competent enough to meet the challenges of medical needs of patients. The discipline of pharmacology explores biology through the action of drugs. This subject embraces the knowledge of the sources, chemical properties, biological effects and therapeutic uses of drugs. It is important for medical and dental students to understand how drugs are absorbed and distributed, bound to their receptors and eliminated.

Objectives of this subject are as followed:
To provide an exciting learning experience in a variety of ways; lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops for group discussions, problem-solving exercises and tutorial sessions
To provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental Pharmacology and uses of the major classes of clinically important drugs currently used in medical practice
To conduct and assist research-oriented practical
To arrange regular assessments of students to identify their strengths and weaknesses so that to provide them timely assistance
CME activities are a regular feature of the pharmacology department to keep the faculty up to date according to the needs of the modern era.
