The most important college-related factor that is crucial to influence the achievement of students is an inspiring and levelheaded teacher. The institute believes that it is its responsibility to pay very critical attention and to endorse programs for the support and training of its old and new teaching staff. Teachers are considered the greatest assets of a medical college as stated and I quote “great teachers create great students”.

In this regard, our college hosted a very important two days’ workshop from 26th- 27th of November 2018 on ‘Workshop on Communication Skills , Effective Feedback and Use of Teaching Aids”, headed by our honorable facilitator Dr. Shahid Shameem ( professor of surgery and health professional education) , who came all the way from Dow Medical College Karachi for this workshop.

The event started with an opening ceremony to welcome our dear guests arranged by the medical education department. This event was graced by very important personalities including Dr Qazi Adnan (Director Academics (WMDC), Dr Shahid Shamim (our facilitator) , Dr. Irum Abbas ( Vice Dean Ayub College of Dentistry, Abbottabad) and Dr. Umer Farooq (Dean Ayub Medical College ,Abbottabad) who were greeted with bouquets at the entrance by the student organizers . The opening event was hosted by two student moderators from 3rd-year MBBS.It commenced with the Holy name of Allah and the national anthem. Principal Professor Dr Aziz Ur Rehman Yousafzai gave a welcome address followed by our chief guests on the importance of faculty development and collaboration in medical education. Dr Shahid Shameem blessed us with his knowledge regarding faculty development by hosting this workshop. The aim of this workshop was to cover three very important aspects regarding faculty development,

• Communication skills
• Effective feedback
• use of teaching aids

On completion of this workshop, teachers were able to develop the following:
• Advanced knowledge of educational methods and practice.
• The importance of a positive teacher-student interaction in a classroom
• The importance of effective feedback

by the mutual collaboration of departments, this workshop rendered very productive sessions for faculty of Women Medical and Dental College
