In our system when hospital and clinics are overwhelmed by the burden of diseases and poor people from far off areas are having trouble receiving health care, free medical camps are rendered as their biggest hope. Free medical camps are set up with a sacred aim to bring awareness amongst the deprived population of our country. These camps tend to foresee that people are getting health care at the right time and seen by the doctors early enough before a small health problem turns serious.
Women Medical &Dental College accustomed to set-up free medical camps in slums, villages and remote areas across Pakistan to provide free medical facilities including consultation, treatment, diagnostic tests, and medicines. On 9th of April, 2019 WMDC arranged a free medical camp in a remote village of Haripur (Beer). In Beer, specialized health facilities are lacking. Approximately 10 doctors and over 50 students participated in this camp. There were different departments i.e. Eye, ENT, Medicine, Surgery, Gyne/Obs, Pediatrics, Dental section, Laboratory and Pharmacy.
In this medical camp, about 300 patients were given medical consultancy and were provided with free medicines. Some patients were referred to Jinnah International Hospital Abbottabad for further medical treatment due to their serious condition
We need to improve our health care system where costs are high and poor find it difficult to afford. We need to realize, that poorest among us deserve the same dignity of equal human rights which cannot be declined.
